More range for electric load-lugger

Nissan has unveiled an updated e-NV200 van, complete with abigger battery and faster charging, but it’s still not on the cards for Australia.
Although it’s very similar to the existing car on the outside, thee-NV200 update is packing a 40kWh battery in place of the 24kWh unit currently offered, making for a zero-emissions range of 300kmper charge.
The bigger battery also means the car can operate for 15 hours in Power Plug mode, supplying 1000W of juice like a rolling generator or battery. Nissan says you can use it to power a house, office, or shops in an emergency.
When you run flat, the included charge plug is capable of 6kW instead of 3kW, helping drop charge time to eight hours.
Rounding out the changes to the battery is an eight year, 160,000km warranty in place of the five year, 100,000km warranty offered previously.
Aside from the powertrain tweaks, the updated van gains NissanConnect with navigation and DVD playback, a music box and gesture control. Auto-headlights are also standard across the range, and there’s privacy glass down back.
All of these specs are for the Japanese market, and we’re not going to get the e-NV200 – Nissan’s local division has confirmed there are “no plans at this stage” for our market
